The Parish Council current interaction with the Consultation:

16/09/2022

Cllr Sue Palmer attended the meeting on 15th September and says:

"I have the relevant information. They were quite happy to explain what the proposals are but as nothing is set in stone yet it is difficult to see what effect it will have on us.

I asked about the  possibility of the traffic diverting through Wramplingham. They say that this hasn’t been a consideration as that is not a direct route from the Norwich Western Link and doesn’t come up on the satnav.

They believe the traffic will be diverted through Kimberley and the top side of Wicklewood.

The road closure proposal from the B1108 to Wymondham could be access only, but there will be a way of getting through that road and local residents are more likely to use that still, as it will soon become apparent it is not closed. Access is going to be needed for Kimberley Hall, Centerpaws, Woodfarm Vets and local businesses situated in Carlton Forehoe.

They are looking at stopping HGV through Barnham Broom."

Chairman Keith Waldron also attended the meeting and says:

"In keeping with Cllr Palmer’s observations, my understanding is:

  1. There would be no change in traffic through Wramplingham (and I have asked for their figures to verify this). There would be an increase through Chapel Street, Barford (figs available – I have attached the traffic data downloaded from their site).

  2. There would be an increase along Pockthorpe Road (figs not shown but I recall they mentioned an increase from 50 to 200 per day).

  3. The bulk of cross-country traffic would be as Cllr Palmer suggests. However, I don’t know what will happen with HGVs. I believe they want to 'persuade' such traffic to go to Wymondham via the A11."
