On 15th February 2022 the Parish Council (represented by Mary Dorrell) and the Village Hall (represented by Norman Cox) were presented with a commemorative plaque by Lord Richard Dannatt, Deputy to The Lady Dannatt MBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk.

In Lady Dannatt's words: "a Plaque to all rural communities to mark what has been a truly unique and remarkable year which brought great pain for many people in so many ways, but through which shone our communities’ care and thought for each other.  We all hope never to see another like it, but we must remember it."

“For those of you who have yet to see the plaques, they are based on the design skills of Wymondham based Ruby Douglass, a recent graduate of Norwich University of the Arts.  The style of lettering, blue colouring and shape of the plaques were chosen as a visual means to celebrate the community overcoming such a difficult year.  The wording and a number of quotes were researched by Norwich’s National Centre for Writing, with the committee finally deciding on the simple but inspirational words of Norfolk born Harriet Martineau”

The Plaque is made of weather proof, long lasting, enamelled aluminium and comes with pre-drilled holes (and screws) for fixing indoors or out. It will be mounted at Barford & Wramplingham Village Hall.

"The cost of the plaques was met completely by private donations from people who care as deeply about our Norfolk Communities as we all do."
